Aussie expat in KL on six month consulting job in KLCC unaccompanied (family in Dubai) seeking contact with other expats for social activities. Born in the UK, lived in Hampshire and London emigrated to Perth, Western Australia with my family in 1966. I grew up in Perth love the sun and beach, snorkeling, surfing , sailing (surf cats) flying. I had my private pilot's license before my drivers license. Alas I fly no more but will again one day. I joined the Australian Army and had a 21 year career retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2001 to give my young family a chance of stability. We lived in Melbourne where we still own a house and despite having lived in Dubai for 10 years, our sons call Melbourne home. Our eldest son studied graphic design at Victoria University and is currently living in Melbourn and looking for a job. My wife Melissa is from tropical Townsville, in far north Queensland. She's loves Melbourne for its arts, culture and food and our very good friends there, but hates the winters. We've enjoyed the opportunities that expat life in Dubai has given us but plan on returning to Melbourne when our youngest son (16) finishes his IB. Melissa and I are also looking at the option of retiring to somewhere in SE Asia, possibly Malaysia (M2H is attractive) Penang is our favourite location at the moment. I'm working on contract consulting in KL at present, Melissa and Guy remain in Dubai, and Arden is in Melbourne.
