I study Protection of Human Rights and International Cooperation at the Universit脿 di Bologna?s Ravenna campus. I hope that I can gain Italian permanent residency and maybe one day citizenship but continue to work in the wider Euro-Mediterranean region, with emphasis on the Mediterranean. I am also considering working deeper in the Middle East and Central Asia.

Yafo, Tel Aviv, Israel
Lived in Yaffa, south of Tel Aviv, where I interned over the summer for the group Physicians for Human Rights - Israel. I did extensive - mostly independent - travel to the West Bank in Occupied Palestine to see firsthand the brutal treatment of the Palestinians, documenting it through an amateur attempt at photojournalism while hoping to raise awareness among my extended social circle.

Yaffa is a beautiful city with a rich history and retains its pre-colonial character. It was easy to travel from Yaffa to other parts of Israel and Palestine. It is on the sea.
Yaffa has become a touristy destination.
Florence, Tuscany, Italy
Studied political science and Italian history and government, as well as the basics of the Italian language for 4 months, from 6 January to 2 May of that year. Learned more about the then exacerbating refugee crisis in the Mediterranean which continues unabated as I write this (2 February 2017). It is this crisis which I now am deeply interested in.
Student, volunteered one day at an exhibit with the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights office in Florence to give information on the plight of the Sahrawi people living under brutal conditions on Moroccan-occupied Western Sahara.
