My expat journey

Maramures, Romania

San Juan, San Juan, Puerto Rico
Enjoy the environmental contrast of the so-called Isla del Encanto. They have beautiful mountains and being in the Caribbean they have wonderful Caribbean beaches. Salsa music anywhere and Puerto Ricans are very partying and happy!!
Due to a job promotion I was transferred to the Island of Enchantment, you already know!
I liked the contrast of ecosystems (mountains, beaches, Caribbean, Atlantic...) My favorite place is the Ciales area, beautiful mountainous area.
The local beer is called Medalla, very good!... the pi帽a coladas and the street parties full of Salsa and drums. A country full of cultural wealth and a lot of history. They are extremely devoted to their family and this is always their priority.
They have a drink called coquito that they have at Christmas that is super delicious, it's like a coconut eggnog... I highly recommend it.
Of my favorite places: Old San Juan, Ciales, Cueva del Indio, Cueva Ventana, Playa Sucia, the pozitas in Pi帽ones, La placita.
Although I found the people very friendly, I did realize that if you don't have someone local to integrate you or help you integrate, it is difficult to penetrate social circles or create local friendships on your own.
Although I like to dance salsa and bachata, I don't enjoy listening to only salsa and bachata all night... oops!... most local and tourist entertainment venues only have bachata and salsa all night...

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands
Sun, Sand, Sea..... Corona's :) I was transferred to work for an opening project for a couple of months that turned into 9 beautiful years
Hospitality
The beach is incredibly beautiful, white sand, the clarity of the water is incredible and all the shades of turquoise you can imagine. I really enjoyed living there, I met and made friends from many nationalities, with different stories. The atmosphere is super simple, I basically spent 9 years in sandals, bikini, shorts and tank tops, it is a young and very vibrant atmosphere. The diversity of the island means that the food offering is diverse and, in my opinion, of excellent quality.
It is very hot and the humidity can be overwhelming... summer is intensely hot and sometimes impossible to be outside for long. Although the island is in a strategic position for hurricanes, during the season they are a threat since the island is very small and only has one airport. During hurricane season it is super important to be prepared for any eventuality.
