To be honest, I have no interest in football and haven't watched any of it.  From a nationality aspect, I could support either the USA, England or with a bit of effort, the Netherlands, but then I'd have to surrender the other 2.

From a more light-hearted aspect, I read elsewhere on the internet that in breaking news this morning; the USA have appealed the result of their match against Belgium and withdrawn the visas of all the Belgian football team; as a result, the match scores have been reversed and Donald Trump has been credited with all 4 of the USA goals, making him the greatest USA goalscorer of all time; the Belgian team have been deported back to Belgium.

It made me laugh anyway.

Not a soccer fan, but I have to admit it's quite entertaining to watch highly paid athletes "chewing up the scenery" any time they're subjected to a foul equal to the force of a butterfly's wing.

It's fascinating to watch.  Canada got knocked out and the Dominican Republic doesn't have a team!  So now my cheerleading is subject to bribes!!!!

I am, however, glad the USA got knocked out.  Sorry!

As of now I will cheer for the best looking team in each match!

I was wondering who should be my "second pick" if England doesn't go through.

I'm thinking of Spain but others are leaning to France and the mega player MBappe.

It's a good bet on France. I am not sure England can take on Argentina and win. South American teams tend to be flexible with the rules. That's according to commentators I've heard.

FIFA is supposedly planning a 64 team WC in 2030 or 2034. That means a lot more teams from smaller countries could participate. But it will be really long as a tournament and I don't know if WC mania is sufficient to keep attention going.
