Retired Dutchman to live on the Costa del Sol?

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Maybe some Dutch people here can help me a little.

I have been living in Marbella for many years now. Yes, it is beautiful, exclusive, sunny and all that. But after raising my two daughters here and now being 65+, my priorities have changed a bit.

These days I am looking more for peace and quiet than beach clubs and traffic jams.

I know Marbella very well, probably too well 馃槃, and I have started thinking about my next move. Not upgrading this time, but actually downgrading a little and simplifying life.

Recently I started looking around Benalm谩dena and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Nice views, more relaxed atmosphere, good services and still close to everything.

While searching, I came across this page with quite a few properties:

Some very nice options there already.

But I thought I would ask here as well.

Maybe somebody knows of an off-market property that is not advertised yet?

My wish list is quite simple:

* Swimming pool

* Nice views

* Flat garden or yard (my knees are not getting younger 馃槄)

* Quiet area

* Not too far from Arroyo de la Miel

* Preferably a villa, townhouse or ground floor apartment

Are there any Dutch people living in Benalm谩dena who might be thinking about selling in the near future?

Maybe a friend, neighbour or family member?

I am not in a huge hurry, just looking for the right place and the right location.

Hi Alexander,

I can completely understand your thinking. After many years in Marbella, it's natural that priorities change and peace and comfort become more important than nightlife and crowds.

Benalm谩dena is often overlooked compared to Marbella, but for retirees it offers a lot: good infrastructure, beautiful sea views, a more relaxed atmosphere and generally better value for money.

You might also want to expand your search slightly towards Benalm谩dena Pueblo or even parts of Torremuelle. Some excellent properties never make it onto the major portals and are sold through local agents or word of mouth.
